In a market flooded with artificial fragrances and synthetic additives, Gandharaja exists to provide certified natural, pure offerings for divine worship. We believe that what is offered to the Divine must be of the highest quality: untouched by chemicals and chosen with clear devotional intent.
Every product we carry has been personally sourced, verified, and deemed worthy for deity worship by our founder, a dedicated servant of Lord Krishna with deep roots in the ISKCON community.

Gandharaja was developed under the direct inspiration of his Archana Guru, H.G. Nrsimha Kavaca Prabhu — ISKCON's worldwide Deity Worship Minister, renowned for his unparalleled expertise in archana and deity service. Vraja Mohan dasa serves as the ISKCON Deity Worship Ministry representative for East Coast North America.
From his very beginnings in Krishna consciousness, Vraja Mohan dasa was taught that the purity of what we offer to the Lord is a reflection of the purity of our desire to please and serve Him. That conviction shaped him into a connoisseur — intensely focused on securing the finest natural offerings worthy of the altar. When he could not find this quality in the marketplace — particularly in attars, ruh oils, chandan, and incense used in deity worship — neither for his own pujari service nor for the temples under his care, he was moved to create the source himself. Gandharaja was founded not as a business but as a service to the world: to provide pure, natural offerings that can be used in divine worship with full confidence, and that bring health and peace of mind to those who use them. We do not stock synthetic fragrances anywhere in our line.
He personally travels to Turkey, the UAE, India, and Croatia to source the finest natural attars, ruh oils, frankincense, and sacred woods, ensuring each product meets the highest standard of purity before it reaches your altar.
Ancient Craft
The Deg & Bhapka
At the heart of every attar is an ancient copper apparatus — the deg and bhapka. The deg is a large cauldron in which flowers, roots, or woods are simmered with water over a slow wood fire. Steam carrying the volatile fragrance rises through a bamboo pipe into the bhapka, a receiver vessel submerged in cool water, where it condenses into pure attar.
This process, unchanged for over five centuries in Kannauj, is what gives these attars their incomparable depth and complexity. No solvents, no synthetic shortcuts — just fire, water, copper, and time.
The Flowers
Sourced at the Peak of Bloom
The finest attars begin before sunrise, when flowers hold their highest concentration of aromatic molecules. Rosa damascena petals are hand-harvested each morning during the brief flowering season and rushed to the deg within hours — every delay costs fragrance.
It takes thousands of rose petals to fill a single vial of Ruh Gulab. This is why true ruh oils are rare and precious, worlds apart from diluted commercial alternatives. We source only from distillers who maintain this labour-intensive standard.
